Most cutting boards are glued-up panels—multiple pieces of wood bonded together with adhesives that can harbor bacteria, absorb moisture, and eventually split apart. This board is different. It's cut from a single solid slab of Sapele hardwood—no glue, no joints, no lamination. Just one continuous piece of wood, edge to edge.

We source kiln-dried hardwood overseas from trusted partners who harvest responsibly and supply untreated, quality timber. Sapele is chosen for its dense, interlocked grain—which makes the wood tough, stable, and much less prone to warping. Aesthetically, it has a distinct tiger-stripe ribbon grain and natural chatoyancy, catching the light and subtly shifting as you move around it.

Glued cutting boards are everywhere because they're cheap to manufacture. But every glue joint is a potential failure point - a crack that collects bacteria, a seam that traps moisture, a weak spot that eventually separates in the dishwasher.

A single-slab board has none of those problems. The wood is continuous, the surface is uninterrupted, and there are no hidden adhesives touching your food preparation surface.

• The Science of Oil & Warping: Wood warps primarily due to moisture imbalance. The natural oils in the wood help prevent that, but they leach out over time with washing. Occasionally using Organic MCT oil keeps the board in great condition, and beeswax helps seal it. We use MCT oil because it doesn't spoil or go rancid, and is a rich nutrient for both wood and people. Will a board warp without oil? Yes, it's more likely, as untreated wood is far more susceptible to moisture imbalance.

• Towel-dry immediately after washing
• Stand upright or lay flat to finish drying - do not store wet
• Apply a board conditioner made of MCT oil and beeswax periodically, or you can use our Organic MCT & Beeswax Board Butter (handcrafted with pure organic MCT oil and raw beeswax in a zero-plastic glass jar with a solid Sapele wood lid) to maintain the wood fibers and prevent cracking (never use mineral oil or rancidity-prone cooking oils).
